I have a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2015- 2019) with emphasis on Physiology. In 2017, I had the opportunity to go to University of Coimbra, in Portugal, where I stayed for a semester taking some classes and getting to know the university’s labs. During undergrad, I spent 3 years in a research group focusing in autism spectrum disorder, where I’ve learned a lot about animal model behavioral tests and immunofluorescence technique. In my last semester there, I got involved in a research project about interneurons and excitatory/inhibitory imbalance in an autism model, time when I discovered my fascination about the brain inhibitory components and neuronal migration during development. By the end of 2018, I met Professor Eduardo Zimmer and his excitement about both science and Alzheimer’s disease. In 2019, I started to participate as an undergrad student on Zimmer Lab meetings and currently I am doing my Masters in Biochemistry focusing on neurodevelopmental aspects of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
I was born in Porto Alegre and I’ve lived here almost my entire life. I have two cats: Frajola (he is a little bit fat…. only 7,5 kg) and Pretinha (although I barely see her at the house). Beyond being at the lab and reading scientific papers, in my free time I love hanging out with my friends, spending time with my family, doing Gasômetro-Iberê route by bike and watching soccer games on TV, especially the ones from Internacional – the best team in the world. I also love doing sports and I have already done a few: ballet when I was a child, then figure skating and finally handball when I was in high school. Currently, my new passion is acrobatic tissue, which is very challenging but also amazing. I’m a huge fan of science, of course, and because of that my favorite kind of series on Netflix are the scientific ones. I also love traveling and I have already tried to speak other languages beyond Portuguese and English. I’m a disaster on kitchen but I like watching recipes videos on Youtube, especially the vegan ones.
